XFORMER PILATES CERTIFICATION

Training Dates: April 4th-6th

Location: Awen Pilates in Topanga

Pilates Master Trainer: Piper Michelle

Equipment: XFormer

Certification: Slow Resistance Training

  • The Slow Resistance Training (SRT) method, which will be taught at our upcoming training with Piper Michelle, is a set of principles adaptable to any reformer.

Slow Resistance Training (SRT) is a high-intensity, low-impact fitness method designed to build strength and endurance through slow, controlled movements. Instead of counting reps, exercises are performed for time under tension, maximizing muscle engagement and eliminating momentum. Every movement is powered solely by your muscles, ensuring optimal activation and control.

The result? A highly effective, total-body workout that targets slow-twitch endurance muscle fibers, enhancing muscular endurance, core stability, and overall body control.

  • By taking this training, you’ll earn a Slow Resistance Training (SRT) Certification—a comprehensive program designed to elevate your teaching and deepen your personal practice. Here’s why this certification stands out:

ADAPTABLE & VERSATILE ACROSS STUDIOS: Our training is specifically adapted for the XFormer, the equipment we use at Awen Pilates. However, SRT is a set of principles that can be applied to any reformer with a carriage and springs or even using sliders and a mat at home. Whether you’re teaching in a studio with traditional reformers, XFormers, or guiding clients through at-home practice, the principles you learn will help you adapt to any setup.

With SRT, you're not tied to a specific machine or brand, allowing you to expand your teaching opportunities without being restricted by licensing.

COACHING SKILLS: Coaching goes far beyond memorizing principles and exercises; it’s about creating a supportive, motivating environment where students feel empowered. In this training, you'll develop the skills to become an effective coach—one who inspires and encourages students to push beyond their limits while fostering a sense of accomplishment. Some of the coaching skills covered in this training include:

    • That & Those vs You & Yours

    • Vocal Communication

    • Filler vs Education

    • Metaphors & Similes

    • Adjustments & Corrections

    • Know the Rules

    • Training Hierarchy

    • Tell Them Why

    • Utilizing Music

MASTER THE ART OF INTENTIONAL MOVEMENT: This training will deepen your understanding of slow, mindful movements that nurture both body and mind. You’ll learn to guide clients through high-intensity, low-impact exercises that build strength, flexibility, and stability while protecting the joints, offering a holistic approach to fitness. By mastering intentional movement, you’ll help clients improve control, precision, and resilience, fostering a stronger connection to their bodies.

Join us today and become part of a growing community of instructors redefining strength through mindful movement!

  • For those of you familiar with the Lagree Method, the SRT principles are the same foundational concepts. If you’re working with Lagree Brand equipment, we offer a worksheet that includes an equivalent exercise comparison.

As Piper Michelle wisely says, "Methods are many. Principles are few. Methods always change. Principles never do."
